National Institute of Open School

The need of time is the will of God”. The most cherished thought of our founder Fr. Theodosius Florentini is the inspiration to start this new initiative. Sensing the needs of slow learners and the dropouts around Mira Road, the sisters began the National Institute of Open School coaching centre in the year 2014. The first batch began with seven students.

As the years passed by, the number of students increased in NIOS. In the year 2018-19, there were 70 students in class X and 15 students in class XII. The centre has become a refuge and hope for many of the children with learning difficulties. Most of these students passed out with good results and continue their further studies in nearby colleges.

STUDY CENTRE

The Study Centre was started in the year 2005 under the leadership of Sr. Johanna Brandstatter. All the sisters in the community enthusiastically stepped in to this new venture of educating the less privileged. Though initially the centre was for the children of the construction workers’ and the slums, later on children from the economically poor background were admitted to the centre and the medium of education was changed from Hindi to English in the year 2013. Hundreds of children have benefited and get their basic education here. Most of these students hail from the states of Nepal and North India.
